Content Moderation Policy

Last Updated: July 2026

1. Introduction
At PawSignal Tech, we are committed to maintaining a safe, trustworthy and welcoming community for everyone who uses Fyndit.
The purpose of this Content Moderation Policy is to explain how we review, assess and respond to content and behaviour that may violate our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines or applicable law.
Moderation plays an important role in protecting users, supporting animal welfare and maintaining confidence in the information shared across the platform.
We strive to make moderation decisions that are fair, consistent, proportionate and transparent while respecting the rights of all users.
This Policy should be read together with our:
• Terms of Service
• Privacy Policy
• Community Guidelines
Each document serves a different purpose within Fyndit's legal framework.

2. Our Moderation Principles
Every moderation decision is guided by a number of core principles.
Safety First
Protecting people and animals is our highest priority.
Where content presents an immediate risk of harm, we may act quickly to reduce that risk.
Fairness
We seek to apply our rules consistently regardless of a user's popularity, Guardian Network status or length of membership.
Every report is assessed based on the available information and the applicable policies.
Proportionality
Not every violation requires the same response.
Whenever appropriate, enforcement action will be proportionate to the seriousness, intent and impact of the behaviour.
Transparency
Where reasonably possible, we aim to explain moderation decisions and provide affected users with information about the action taken.
Certain legal, security or privacy considerations may limit the amount of information we can disclose.
Continuous Improvement
Moderation is an evolving process.
We regularly review our policies, moderation tools and internal procedures to improve consistency, accuracy and community safety.

3. What We Moderate
PawSignal Tech may review content or behaviour made available through the Service, including but not limited to:
• community reports;
• comments;
• photographs;
• profile information;
• usernames;
• direct messages where permitted by law and necessary to investigate reported abuse;
• pet-friendly place submissions;
• business listings;
• event listings;
• Guardian Network activity;
• user behaviour;
• and other content published through the platform.
Moderation may also extend to repeated misuse of platform features, attempts to manipulate community systems or other conduct that threatens the integrity of the Service.

4. How Content Is Identified for Review
Potential violations may come to our attention through a variety of sources.
These include:
User Reports
Members of the community may report content or behaviour that they believe violates our rules.
Community reporting plays a vital role in helping us maintain a safe platform.
Automated Detection
We may use automated systems to identify potentially harmful, fraudulent, illegal or abusive content.
Automated systems help prioritise content for review but do not necessarily make final moderation decisions.
Human Review
Our moderation team may review content manually where reports, automated systems or other circumstances indicate that review is appropriate.
Human judgement is particularly important in situations involving context, nuance or competing interests.
Legal Requests
Content may also be reviewed following lawful requests from courts, regulators, law enforcement agencies or other competent authorities where required by applicable law.

5. Types of Content That May Require Moderation
Examples of content that may be reviewed include:
• false or misleading reports;
• harassment or bullying;
• hate speech;
• threats of violence;
• graphic or disturbing imagery;
• scams or fraudulent activity;
• spam;
• impersonation;
• unlawful commercial activity;
• copyright infringement;
• privacy violations;
• illegal content;
• abuse of the Guardian Network;
• repeated policy violations;
• or any other behaviour inconsistent with our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.
The examples above are illustrative only and should not be interpreted as an exhaustive list.

6. Our Moderation Process
Every report or detected policy concern is assessed through a moderation process designed to be fair, consistent and proportionate.
Although every situation is unique, our review process generally includes the following stages:
Step 1 — Identification
Potential violations may be identified through user reports, automated systems, internal monitoring or lawful requests from competent authorities.
Step 2 — Initial Assessment
A moderator evaluates the available information to determine whether the reported content appears to violate our Terms of Service, Community Guidelines or applicable law.
During this stage we may consider:
• the context of the content;
• its potential impact on users or animals;
• whether similar conduct has occurred previously;
• the credibility of the available evidence;
• and whether immediate action is necessary.
Step 3 — Investigation
Where appropriate, additional information may be reviewed before a decision is made.
This may include:
• related reports;
• supporting photographs or media;
• user history;
• previous moderation actions;
• Guardian Network activity;
• and other relevant information available to PawSignal Tech.
We do not rely solely on the number of reports received when determining whether a violation has occurred.
Step 4 — Decision
After reviewing the available information, a moderator determines whether enforcement action is appropriate.
Where no violation is identified, the reported content may remain available.
Where a violation is confirmed, proportionate enforcement measures may be applied.
Step 5 — Follow-Up
Where appropriate, affected users may receive information regarding the moderation outcome.
In some circumstances, legal, privacy, safety or security considerations may limit the information that can be disclosed.

7. Enforcement Measures
Moderation responses are selected according to the seriousness of the violation, the user's history and the potential impact on the community.
Possible enforcement measures include:
• educational guidance;
• informal reminders;
• official warnings;
• removal of specific content;
• temporary restrictions on posting or messaging;
• temporary feature limitations;
• reduction or removal of Guardian Network reputation;
• temporary account suspension;
• permanent account termination;
• or any other reasonable action necessary to protect the platform, its users or animal welfare.
Certain violations may result in immediate enforcement without prior warning.

8. Immediate Action
Some situations require immediate intervention to protect users, animals or the integrity of the platform.
Examples may include:
• credible threats of violence;
• content encouraging imminent harm;
• child safety concerns;
• animal cruelty;
• illegal wildlife trafficking;
• coordinated scams;
• identity theft;
• serious privacy violations;
• malicious software;
• or other situations presenting an immediate risk.
Where appropriate, PawSignal Tech may remove content, suspend Accounts or restrict access before completing a full investigation.
Immediate action does not necessarily imply that a final determination has been reached.
Additional review may continue afterwards.

9. Repeat Violations
We recognise that genuine mistakes can occur.
However, repeated violations demonstrate a pattern of behaviour that may require stronger enforcement.
When determining an appropriate response, we may consider:
• the number of previous violations;
• the seriousness of previous incidents;
• the time between violations;
• whether previous warnings were issued;
• evidence of intentional misconduct;
• cooperation during investigations;
• and the overall impact on the community.
Repeated violations may result in progressively stronger enforcement measures, including permanent removal from the Service.

10. Abuse of the Reporting System
Community reporting is essential to keeping Fyndit safe.
For that reason, the reporting system itself must not be abused.
Examples of misuse include:
• knowingly submitting false reports;
• coordinating mass reporting campaigns;
• repeatedly reporting content simply because you disagree with another user;
• attempting to silence criticism through false reports;
• targeting individuals through malicious reporting;
• or providing intentionally misleading evidence.
Users who misuse reporting tools may themselves become subject to moderation or enforcement action.
Honest mistakes made in good faith are not treated as abuse.

11. Automated Moderation
PawSignal Tech may use automated technologies to assist with content moderation.
These systems may help identify content that appears to involve:
• spam;
• scams;
• abusive language;
• duplicate reports;
• impersonation;
• suspicious behaviour;
• malicious links;
• policy violations;
• or other potentially harmful activity.
Automated systems are designed to support moderation—not replace human judgement.
Where appropriate, automated detections may be reviewed by trained moderators before significant enforcement action is taken.
We continuously improve these systems to reduce false positives and improve accuracy.

12. Human Review
Many moderation decisions require careful human judgement.
Context, intent and surrounding circumstances often play an important role when assessing whether content violates our policies.
For this reason, trained moderators may review reported content before taking significant enforcement action.
Human reviewers may consider:
• the overall context;
• whether the content was satirical or educational;
• the user's explanation;
• cultural considerations;
• previous moderation history;
• and other relevant factors.
This helps us make decisions that are more accurate, balanced and consistent.

13. Transparency
PawSignal Tech believes that moderation should be understandable, consistent and as transparent as reasonably possible.
Where appropriate, we aim to inform users when moderation action has affected their content or Account.
Depending on the circumstances, notifications may include:
• the type of action taken;
• the general reason for the decision;
• the content or behaviour involved;
• whether the action is temporary or permanent;
• and information about available appeal options, where applicable.
There may be situations where we cannot disclose full details of a moderation decision due to legal obligations, privacy considerations, security concerns or the protection of other users.
Transparency does not require us to reveal internal moderation systems, detection methods or information that could enable users to evade enforcement.

14. Appeals
We recognise that moderation decisions are made using the information available at the time and that mistakes can occasionally occur.
If you believe that enforcement action was taken incorrectly, you may request that the decision be reviewed.
Appeals should be submitted honestly, respectfully and with any additional information that may assist our review.
When assessing an appeal, we may consider:
• new evidence;
• clarification provided by the user;
• context that was not previously available;
• technical information;
• and any other relevant circumstances.
Following review, PawSignal Tech may:
• uphold the original decision;
• modify the enforcement action;
• restore removed content where appropriate;
• reinstate access to an Account or feature;
• or take any other action considered reasonable.
Submitting multiple repetitive appeals without new information may result in further requests not being reviewed.

15. Content Removal
Content may be removed when it violates our:
• Terms of Service;
• Community Guidelines;
• this Content Moderation Policy;
• applicable law;
• or when removal is reasonably necessary to protect users, animals or the integrity of the platform.
Removal decisions may apply to:
• individual posts;
• photographs;
• comments;
• usernames;
• business listings;
• event listings;
• messages where legally permitted;
• profile information;
• or other content made available through the Service.
Where appropriate, only the violating content will be removed.
However, in some situations, broader enforcement may be necessary to prevent continued abuse.

16. Account Restrictions and Suspensions
In addition to removing content, PawSignal Tech may temporarily or permanently restrict access to Accounts that repeatedly or seriously violate our policies.
Restrictions may include limiting a user's ability to:
• publish reports;
• upload photographs;
• comment on community content;
• send Direct Messages;
• create business listings;
• participate in the Guardian Network;
• or access other platform features.
Temporary restrictions are intended to encourage positive participation while protecting the wider community.
Permanent suspension is generally reserved for serious or repeated violations, fraudulent activity, unlawful conduct or behaviour that creates significant risk to users, animals or the Service.

17. Guardian Network Enforcement
The Guardian Network is designed to recognise positive contributions made in good faith.
To maintain its integrity, PawSignal Tech may take action where reputation systems are manipulated or abused.
Examples include:
• coordinated reputation manipulation;
• false reporting intended to gain trust points;
• artificial engagement;
• abuse of community voting systems;
• fraudulent achievements;
• exploitation of technical vulnerabilities;
• or any attempt to obtain Guardian status dishonestly.
Enforcement may include:
• adjustment of trust scores;
• removal of achievements or badges;
• temporary participation restrictions;
• permanent loss of Guardian privileges;
• or additional moderation measures where appropriate.
Maintaining confidence in the Guardian Network is essential to preserving trust across the Fyndit community.

18. Cooperation with Authorities
Where required by applicable law, PawSignal Tech may cooperate with courts, law enforcement agencies, regulatory authorities and other competent public bodies.
Such cooperation may include responding to lawful requests relating to:
• criminal investigations;
• court orders;
• legal obligations;
• public safety;
• animal welfare investigations;
• fraud prevention;
• or other matters permitted or required by law.
Any disclosure of user information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy, applicable data protection legislation and other relevant legal requirements.
We carefully assess requests before responding and seek to protect user privacy wherever reasonably possible.

19. Protection of Moderators
Content moderation can involve exposure to difficult, disturbing or emotionally challenging material.
PawSignal Tech is committed to supporting individuals involved in moderation by maintaining appropriate operational procedures, training and wellbeing measures.
To protect both moderators and the effectiveness of the moderation process, users must not:
• harass moderators;
• threaten moderators;
• attempt to identify individual moderators;
• seek to influence moderation decisions through intimidation;
• or interfere with moderation activities.
Moderation decisions are made on behalf of PawSignal Tech and should be addressed through the established appeal process rather than through personal contact with moderators.

20. User Responsibilities During Investigations
Where a moderation investigation is underway, users are expected to cooperate honestly and respectfully.
This may include providing additional information, clarifying the circumstances surrounding reported content or responding to reasonable requests made by PawSignal Tech.
Users should not:
• submit false evidence;
• alter or fabricate supporting information;
• encourage others to interfere with an investigation;
• attempt to intimidate witnesses or other users;
• or deliberately obstruct the moderation process.
Failure to cooperate does not automatically result in enforcement action, but intentional attempts to undermine investigations may constitute an independent violation of our policies.

21. Good Faith Moderation
Every moderation decision is made in good faith using the information reasonably available at the time.
Despite our efforts, no moderation system is perfect.
Context may evolve, new information may emerge or mistakes may occasionally occur.
For this reason, PawSignal Tech continually reviews moderation practices, provides ongoing training to moderators and improves internal procedures to promote fairness, consistency and accuracy.
Good faith moderation does not guarantee that every user will agree with every decision.
It means that decisions are made honestly, impartially and with the objective of protecting the Fyndit community.

22. Special Considerations for Animal Welfare
Because Fyndit is centred around animals, certain situations require additional consideration beyond ordinary social platforms.
Moderators may prioritise reports involving:
• missing pets;
• injured animals;
• abandoned animals;
• animal abuse or neglect;
• dangerous environmental hazards affecting animals;
• wildlife emergencies;
• urgent rescue situations;
• and other circumstances where delayed action could reasonably increase the risk of harm.
Where appropriate, content relating to genuine animal welfare concerns may remain visible even if it contains limited sensitive material, provided that its public benefit outweighs potential harm and appropriate safeguards are applied.
Each situation is assessed individually.

23. Educational Approach
Whenever appropriate, PawSignal Tech seeks to educate rather than simply punish.
Many policy violations arise from misunderstanding rather than malicious intent.
Where circumstances permit, we may provide guidance explaining:
• why particular content violates our policies;
• how similar issues can be avoided in the future;
• what changes are required for compliance;
• and how users can continue participating positively within the community.
Education helps strengthen long-term trust and encourages responsible participation.
Serious, repeated or deliberate violations may still require immediate enforcement.

24. Continuous Review of this Policy
Online communities evolve over time.
New technologies, emerging risks, legal developments and changing community expectations may require updates to our moderation practices.
Accordingly, PawSignal Tech periodically reviews this Content Moderation Policy to ensure that it remains:
• effective;
• proportionate;
• transparent;
• legally compliant;
• and aligned with industry best practices.
We may also consider feedback received from users, moderators, regulators and trusted community partners when improving our moderation framework.
